BENGALURU: As tensions brew over the Cauvery dispute in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, a goodwill gesture by Tamil Nadu Police towards people plying in cars with Karnataka registration is now being widely appreciated.
In a post that has gone viral, Facebook user Joyal Bindu detailed how patrol vehicles of Tamil Nadu police escorted their car bearing Karnataka registration, for over 350km.
The incident occurred when Bindu was returning to Karnataka from Kerala via Tamil Nadu. When he reached the toll gate over Madurai bypass, it is said that he was asked to park to the side and was informed that his vehicle would be escorted by police in a while. And within a few minutes, Bindu saw that there were a few more vehicles with Karnataka registration number plates.
Later, once they started their journey, Bindu was surprised to see around 16 vehicles collectively escorted by Tamil Nadu police.
As of 2.30 pm Monday, the post had been shared close to 11,000 times, with people hailing the efforts of the Tamil Nadu police. Netizens who responded to the post described it as a model that police from all States should emulate during times of such crisis.
