New Delhi: In yet another innovative form of protest, Tamil farmers protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi for than a month, this Saturday they brought upfront the plight of the wives of farmers who turn widows after their husband commit suicide when unable to pay farm loan amount.
Screaming out loud the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi dozens of farmers cut Mangalsutra (thread worn around neck symbolising marriage) showcasing the pain of farmer widows.
MP D Raja also led a delegation of leaders at the protest site “Despite a team visiting Tamil Nadu and accessing the situation no funds have been released, both Center and state governments have no intention”.
Since the last 33 days farmers have refused to roll back the agitation without any concrete assurance from the Central government on loan waiver.
