The leve of Veeranam Lake in Cuddalore district has reached 42.10 feet against its capacity of 47.50 feet.

CUDDALORE: The leve of Veeranam Lake in Cuddalore district has reached 42.10 feet against its capacity of 47.50 feet.

The lake is receiving good amount of inflow both through Vadavaru canal (from lower anicut) and rain water. Level of Veeranam Lake is increasing steadily as no water is being taken out by the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board and also for irrigation purposes now.

As per the rainfall report that was released on Tuesday morning, Parangipettai recorded 263 mm, Annamalai Nagar recorded 248.60 mm, Chidambaram recorded 202.60 mm, Cuddalore received 140.40 mm, Veppur received 32 mm, Panruti received 28.20 mm, Vriddhachalam received 18.30, Kilacheruvai recorded just 2 mm and there was no rainfall at Thozudur.
