MADURAI: A mother should be a role model to her kids, but by no yardsticks, this woman could fit in to the definition. Thanks to the quarrel which she had with her husband in the morning, the woman identified as Pandiselvi, wife of Saravanan who runs a shop near Iyer Bungalow in Madurai, made hoax bomb calls to the schools where her children are studying, as she doesn’t want to drop the kids all by herself.
Sources at the police department said, Sri Saradha Vidyavanam Higher Secondary School in Simmakkal received the first threat call on Friday.

“A woman said over phone that a bomb was kept on the school premises. KVT Matriculation Higher Secondary School in M K Puram too received a similar call,” they said. Upon receiving the calls, the schools alerted the police immediately, who then informed the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS).

“After receiving the alert from the schools, BDDS officials rushed to the schools and confirmed that no bombs were placed. However, the both the school authorities had declared a holiday,” the official added.
Post investigations, the police zeroed in on Pandiselvi and arrested her. “Pandiselvi made the calls to make sure the schools declare a holiday. She was also in a state of stress due to family issues. This stress may have also influenced her decision. The woman has also been undergoing treatment for the stress issues she is facing,” the police added.

Police registered a case against Pandiselvi under IPC 505 and 506 sections both in Thilagar Thidal and Jaihindpuram police limits.
