Ambasamudram custodial torture: 30 people questioned by CB-CID sleuths in TN

In connection with the custodial torture, Sub Divisional Magistrate-cum-Sub Collector MD Shabbir Alam conducted an inquiry as per the Police Standing Order.

TIRUNELVELI:  In connection with the Ambasamudram custodial torture cases, CB-CID sleuths have interrogated 30 people, including the victims and police personnel, who were present at the police station during the alleged custodial torture. Sources said the personnel who were questioned included suspended ASP Balveer Singh's car drivers and his gunmen.

"The sleuths have registered four cases so far after complaints by victims Subash, Arunkumar, Vetha Narayanan, and Surya, whose teeth were removed with plier by Singh and his team of police personnel in Ambasamudram, Vikramasingapuram, and Kallidaikurichi police stations. Despite our summons, some of the victims refused to appear before us," said an official.

In connection with the custodial torture, Sub Divisional Magistrate-cum-Sub Collector MD Shabbir Alam conducted an inquiry as per the Police Standing Order. Senior IAS officer P Amudha also held a high-level inquiry based on the state government's order. However, both of their reports have been kept secret, with even the victims not given a copy of them.
