DHARMAPURI: The AIADMK district secretary KP Anbalagan and Palacode MLA lashed out at the DMK for failing to implement water management schemes across the district.

Over the past few days, the DMK and AIADMK have begun their campaigns for the upcoming Assembly elections. Both the AIADMK and DMK candidates in Palacode are at each other's throats, calling each other out over their inadequacies, especially their failure to implement key water management schemes. On Wednesday, the incumbent MLA of Palacode, KP Anbalagan, said that DMK had purposely withheld water management.

Speaking at an introductory meeting in Palacode, Anbalagan said, "The DMK cadres in Palacode are quarrelling amongst themselves, so they have imported a candidate from Chennai, DNV S Senthilkumar. When Edappadi K Palaniswami was the chief minister, the Echambadi lift irrigation scheme was in its final phase, and funds had been issued, but the tender never proceeded. Before the 2021 election, Chief Minister MK Stalin arrived at Thoolchetty, where, in the presence of thousands of people, he promised to bring Thenpennai water to the lake. Now, the Palacode DMK candidate is making promises that if he is elected, he will bring these schemes. They are spewing lies for votes."

During the campaign, DMK candidate for Palacode and the Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin had accused the incumbent MLA and AIADMK of failing to represent people's needs and implement water management schemes, although Anbalagan held office as minister for two terms.
