CHENNAI: In a rare public appearance, V Sabareesan, son-in-law of Chief Minister MK Stalin, attended an outreach event in support of DMK’s Villivakkam candidate Karthik Mohan at SIDCO Nagar on Thursday. During his brief interaction with reporters, Sabareesan, took a dig at actor-politician Vijay and said TVK’s entry into politics will have no impact on DMK’s prospects.

“Victory is certain. There is no contest here. We have delivered schemes and we have confidence,” he said, adding there is no formidable rival to challenge the DMK. Responding to a question on Vijay contesting from two constituencies, Sabareesan said it reflected the TVK chief’s level of confidence.

Interestingly, he was accompanied by his wife Senthamarai, CM’s daughter. Party sources said the couple attended the event due to their friendship with Karthik Mohan, son of Anna Nagar MLA MK Mohan.

Addressing party gathering earlier, Sabareesan made a personal appeal to voters to support Karthik Mohan. “I am not separate from the candidate; we are the same. Ensure his victory and all the schemes you expect for your constituency will be delivered,” he said. HR&CE Minister P K Sekar Babu, the DMK’s candidate for Harbour constituency, was also present at the event.
