History-sheeter files nomination from prison for Alangulam seat

This is the third election for Hari, who secured 37,727 votes in the Alangulam constituency in the 2021 general election and 4,243 votes in the bypoll conducted in Nanguneri constituency in 2019.

TIRUNELVELI: Lodged in Central Prison, Puzhal, A Hari Nadar (43), a history-sheeter who has 24 criminal cases against him, filed his nomination papers through his agents for the Alangulam Assembly constituency on Thursday. He took oath before the jail superintendent in Puzhal. He owns 11.650kg of gold ornaments.

This is the third election for Hari, who secured 37,727 votes in the Alangulam constituency in the 2021 general election and 4,243 votes in the bypoll conducted in Nanguneri constituency in 2019.

Apart from cheating, he has been booked for criminal intimidation, and damage to public property, among others. Hari has studied up to SSLC.

He has movable assets worth Rs 26.76 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 12 lakh.

It was history-sheeter Rocket Raja who fielded Hari and campaigned for him in 2021. As they are not on speaking terms, both have entered the fray in the same constituency in this year’s Assembly election, sources said.
