COIMBATORE: Revenue and Disaster Management Minister KA Sengottaiyan, who was earlier allotted the finance portfolio in the newly-formed cabinet, said he requested that his portfolio be changed so that he could work among the people. “In the finance department, my work would have mostly been confined to Chennai. I want to work among the people and through the revenue department I can implement all welfare schemes for the people. Based on that request, Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has given me the revenue portfolio.”
Speaking to reporters at Coimbatore airport on Friday evening, Sengottaiyan outlined the state government’s focus on development and welfare, and said the chief minister’s aim is for Tamil Nadu to progress and for all sections of society to benefit. “The CM’s goal is that Tamil Nadu should thrive. He wants the state to move on the path of development and wants everyone to get everything. A corruption-free administration is his dream,” Sengottaiyan said.
Responding to a question on A Raja’s recent remarks about VCK, Sengottaiyan said, “A stone is thrown only at a fruit-bearing tree. Raja always throws some words and later regrets them. People do not care about it. We do not have time to keep responding to all this (Raja’s remarks).”
