KR Nandan Appointed Vigilance Chief of TS

HYDERABAD: Retired IPS officer KR Nandan has been appointed as Vigilance Commissioner of Telangana. The appointment, initially, is for a period of three years and it may be extended up to five years. The state government issued orders to this effect on Thursday.

Nandan, a 1975 batch IPS officer and  retired from service, is the son-in-law of former Prime Minister late PV Narasimha Rao. Nandan opted out of the DGP race paving way for Dinesh Reddy during Kiran Kumar Reddy’s regime in the combined Andhra Pradesh state.

Nandan will be the first Vigilance Commissioner for Telangana state.

Nandan who hails from Kallur in Khammam district, joined the police service in 1975 and worked as SP of Warangal and Karimnagar districts. He also served as director general of Special Protection Force and retired in 2012 as Police Housing Corporation chairman.

Nandan is known as an honest and straight forward officer.
