HYDERABAD: Hundreds of students belonging to weaker sections, led by BC Welfare Association president and legislator R.Krishnaiah, went on a march and tried to lay siege to Telugu Sankshema Bhavan, the office of the commissioner of BC welfare, at Masab Tank here on Wednesday and staged a dharna there.

They were demanding that the state government release the fee reimbursement arrears of ` 1,790 crore immediately.

Addressing the protesters, Krishnaiah launched a scathing attack on the TRS government and accused it of not fulfilling the promises it had made to students and weaker sections at the time of general election.

Alleging KCR hasn’t fulfilled a single promise, the MLA said, “Leave alone trying to keep his own promises, KCR is not even continuing the welfare schemes introduced in the united state for the benefit of poor students. The reluctance to clear the dues of fee reimbursement is a classic example of this.”
