Nirmal among 15 new districts proposed

HYDERABAD: The district collectors have proposed formation of 15 new districts, including Nirmal, in the state. They have also proposed 80 new mandals.

A preliminary meeting by the revenue officials on announcing new districts was held at MCRHRD Institute here on Tuesday.

Collectors of 10 districts attended it and gave their suggestions though PowerPoint presentation. Chief commissioner of land administration J Raymond Peter conducted the meeting. Chief secretary Rajiv Sharma, who was on a Delhi tour, joined the meeting later.According to sources, each district collector gave a PowerPoint presentation on the geographical boundaries, population and other aspects of the proposed new district.

It was proposed that Nirmal district be carved out of Adilabad. Rangareddy and Hyderabad collectors proposed division of Hyderabad and Rangareddy into four districts.

The district collectors also came up with a proposal for creation of 80 new mandals and five or six revenue divisions.
