HYDERABAD: A division bench of Hyderabad High Court on Thursday issued notices to the Centre and the GST Council on a petition challenging its decision to impose 28 per cent GST on lime stones.The petition was filed by Rajagopal Sarda and two others of Maheshwari stone supplying company in Vikarabad seeking to declare the action of the Centre and other authorities concerned in imposing 28 per cent GST on lime stones, as illegal.

The petitioners’ counsel submitted that the excise and service tax are not applicable to them. Now the Centre has imposed 28 per cent GST on them resulting in a heavy burden on them. 
The counsel requested the court to order the respondent authorities to not take any coercive action against the petitioners. for non-payment of increased tax.
