After vehicle pelted with stones, Kancha Ilaiah files plaint, says death threats against him

PARKAL : A vehicle in which writer and Dalit activist Kancha Ilaiah was travelling was pelted with stones in Parkal town allegedly by members of the Arya Vysya community on Saturday evening. 
Ilaiah, who has been facing the community’s ire for his controversial book titled Samajika smugglurlu komatollu (Vysyas are social smugglers), was returning from Bhupalpally after attending a meeting. At Parkal town,  people allegedly belonging to the Arya Vysya community, gathered at the Ambedkar centre and tried to obstruct the vehicle. However, the driver of the car drove to the local police station. Speaking to media at the police station, Ilaiah alleged that the members of Arya Vysya community had tried to kill him and lodged a police complaint. 


At that time, a large number of Dalits gathered at the police station and demanded action against the attackers while the latter demanded that Ilaiah be taken to task for his book. Police registered a case under Sections 143, 341 and 504 read with 149 of the Indian Penal Code. Later, speaking to media, Ilaiah said he had been receiving life threats from members of the Arya Vysya community who were trying to kill him writing a book as was his constitutional right.
