HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to set up a new corporation, Telangana Rashtra Rythu Samanvaya Samithi (Telangana State Farmers’ Coordination Committee), for taking the government’s measures for agricultural development and farmer welfare to the grass roots and the field level.

He has made it clear that the proposed corporation will be a non-profit organisation and the funds allocated to it will be used for achieving the aims and objectives of the corporation. The village, mandal, district and state level farmers coordination committees will be formed shortly.

Rao held a review meeting at Pragati Bhavan here on Thursday on the formation of farmers coordination committees, their duties and responsibilities as well as on the regional conferences to be held on February 25 and 26. He said the coordination committees would have their duties and responsibilities to play an active role in the agricultural operations from sowing the seeds to selling the produce at MSP.

He said that at least 51 per cent of these committees would be filled up by farmers from the weaker sections and women. In the regional conferences on February 25 and 26, besides the members of the mandal coordination committees, ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, corporation chairpersons, ZP chairpersons and elected representatives should participate.

All over the state 2,630 farmers’ daises will be constructed, one per every 5,000 acres, for the farmers to hod their meetings, discussions and exchange of views with one another. Rao wanted the farmers coordination committees to take the responsibility.
