HYDERABAD: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Friday submitted a report in a sealed cover before the Hyderabad High Court regarding the progress made in the ongoing fresh probe into the sensational rape and murder case of B Pharmacy student Ayesha Meera at her hostel in Ibrahimpatnam near Vijayawada in the year 2007. The Court made it clear to the SIT to have proper investigation into the case.

A division bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice TBN Radhakrishnan and Justice Ramesh Ranganathan was dealing with petitions filed separately by Syed Iqbal Basha and Shamshad Begum, parents of Ayesha, and Prof Rama S Melkote and two others.

After submitting the report to the bench, the counsel for SIT told the court that their plea seeking permission to have narco analysis test on some suspects was rejected by the Vijayawada court. After hearing both sides, the bench directed the SIT to submit report regarding the progress made further in the case and adjourned the case hearing by six weeks.
