JAGTIAL: Normally, most of us use Facebook and WhatsApp to share funny videos, jokes, news and views, snippets, etc. with friends. However, seeking to alleviate the suffering of the lesser-privileged, 42-year-old Renikunta Ramesh thought of using Facebook to seek funds from donors.

Over the past couple of years, due to his efforts, funds worth Rs 52 lakh have been donated for various causes, apart from helping construct houses for the poor. All Ramesh does is post the details of the ailment the patient is suffering from, and their bank account details on Facebook. His posts are reportedly evoking a tremendous response from donors across the country and abroad.

Speaking to Telangana Express, Ramesh said, “I have been doing this since 2015. I feel satisfied when I am able to help the poor. Recently, I found twins belonging to Burugupalli in Dharmapuri mandal suffering from Guillain-Barre Syndrome (muscle weakness).

I posted their pictures and their bank account numbers and they received Rs 1.26 lakh aid from Facebook users”. As many as 34 families got financial assistance through Ramesh’s friends on social media. “Over Rs 52 lakh has been contributed to the poor through this initiative, and I helped construct houses for 14 people”, he added.
