HYDERABAD: Justice Surepalli Nanda of the Telangana High Court on Thursday granted an interim stay on the elections to the Jubilee Hills Co-operative Housing Society in Hyderabad, which were scheduled to be held on April 5.

The elections, involving over 4,000 voters, are considered high-profile given the society’s influential electorate, which includes chief ministers from the Telugu states, a former vice-president and several film personalities.

The court was hearing a writ petition filed by E Sunil Reddy and 16 others, challenging the orders dated March 12, 2026 and March 18, 2026, along with the consequential election notification issued by the State Cooperative Election Authority.

They contended that the impugned orders were illegal, arbitrary, and in violation of the principles of natural justice, as well as contrary to the provisions of the Telangana Cooperative Societies Act, 1964, Rule 22(6) and 8A of the Telangana Cooperative Societies Rules, 1964, and the bylaws of the society.

The petitioners sought setting aside of the orders and a direction to the authorities to include their names, along with other similarly placed members, in the voters’ list of the Jubilee Hills Co-operative House Building Society.
