Centre allocated Rs 86 crore to boost TGCSB, EAGLE, MoS informs Lok Sabha

The Centre has released Rs 128.21 crore for Telangana under the Special Central Assistance Scheme for Left-Wing Extremism-affected states since the inception of the scheme in 2017.

HYDERABAD: Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai on Tuesday said that the Union government has approved Rs 86.09 crore fund allocation for strengthening the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) and Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (now EAGLE force) in the financial year 2025-26.

In a written reply to a question raised by Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy and BJP MP Eatala Rajender in Lok Sabha, he said that these funds have been approved under “Assistance to states for Modernisation of Police”.

The MoS also said that the Centre has approved these funds as against the Rs 178 crore proposal made by the state government.

Of the approved Rs 86.09 crore funds, Rs 52.45 crore will be allocated to TGCSB and Rs 33.64 crore to EAGLE force, he added. Rai further said that in addition, a total of Rs 85.22 lakh has been released to the state government under the “Assistance to states under Narcotics Control” scheme during 2022-23 to 2025-26.

The MoS also said that the Centre has released Rs 128.21 crore for Telangana under the Special Central Assistance Scheme for Left-Wing Extremism affected states since inception of the scheme in 2017.
