HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has said that the state government is strengthening the power sector in line with its goal of transforming Telangana into a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
On Saturday, the deputy chief minister inaugurated Power Exhibition - 2026, organised by TGSPDCL at People’s Plaza in Hyderabad. Later, speaking to the media, he said that despite a significant increase in power demand in the state, the government had been able to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply without difficulties.
He said the peak demand, which was around 13,000 MW earlier, had now crossed 18,000 MW. “Strengthening the transmission system, advance planning and timely procurement of the required power have enabled the government to supply electricity to consumers without interruptions,” he explained.
He said that officials had been directed to set targets up to 2047 and formulate plans from now itself, keeping future power requirements in mind. Since it takes at least four to five years to establish power generation projects, advance planning is essential to meet future requirements, he stated.
He said consumer grievances were being resolved promptly through the 1912 toll-free service and ‘Power Ambulances’.
