Manthani kitchen opens to serve 40 thousand students in Peddapalli and Bhupalpally

The minister recalled that a similar breakfast programme was first launched in Kodangal in Mahbubnagar district and said the initiative would be expanded to other parts of Telangana.

PEDDAPALLI : A centralised community kitchen in Manthani was inaugurated on Monday by IT Minister D Sridhar Babu to provide breakfast to 40,052 students in 694 government schools and 17 junior colleges across Peddapalli and Bhupalpally districts.

Established under the school breakfast programme, the facility will also provide breakfast daily to teaching staff at the institutions.

The programme is being implemented by the UHKM (Hare Krishna) Charitable Foundation, with SCCL as the anchor patron. The organisers described it as one of the largest school breakfast programmes of its kind.

Speaking at the inauguration, Sridhar Babu said nutritious food would improve students’ health and learning abilities. He appreciated the Hare Krishna organisation for supporting students from economically weaker sections.

The minister recalled that a similar breakfast programme was first launched in Kodangal in Mahbubnagar district and said the initiative would be expanded to other parts of Telangana.

Sridhar Babu said government schools were being developed on par with private schools and urged parents to enrol their children in government institutions.
