HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday conducted searches at the residence of deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Sankireddy Bheem Reddy, currently posted with the police computer services (PCS) wing in Hyderabad, for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income through corrupt practices during his service.

As part of the investigation, officials carried out simultaneous searches from Thursday morning at 16 locations linked to the officer, including properties belonging to his relatives, friends, alleged benamidars and other associates.

The searches unearthed documents relating to an extensive portfolio of immovable assets spread across Telangana and Karnataka worth around Rs 200 crore in the market.

2 kg gold, 20 kg silver among loot unearthed

These include a villa in Vessella Meadows at Ibrahimbagh, a G+2 house with a penthouse in Telecom Nagar, one flat each in Telecom Nagar and Gachibowli, two flats in Tellapur, a share in a G+5 commercial complex on Lanco Hills Road in Manikonda, and a 3,000 sq ft commercial space near the Manikonda Marrichettu Junction.

Officials also found documents relating to open plots measuring 500 sq yards at Pragathi Resorts, 200 sq yards at Nagole, 400 sq yards and 200 sq yards at Patancheru, and 1,000 sq yards at Mominpet. Other properties included 44 acres in Karnataka, one acre at Devanahalli near Bengaluru, two acres at Mominpet and 4.2 acres at Muchintala village. The agency also identified an investment of Rs 75 lakh in Sri Raghavendra Rock Sand Minerals.

The ACB also seized around Rs 3.6 lakh in cash from the DSP’s residence and another Rs 40 lakh from the residence of an alleged benamidar. Officials recovered around 2 kg of gold ornaments, 20 kg of silver articles and bank deposits amounting to Rs 19.91 lakh.

During the search, officials also found 23 foreign liquor bottles. The ACB said the Excise department has been informed to initiate appropriate action. The bureau said verification of additional assets is continuing and the total value of the movable and immovable properties is yet to be calculated. However, according to sources, the market value of the properties exceeds Rs 200 crore. Bheem Reddy had earlier served as Jedcherla CI and Patancheru DSP. Officials also reportedly found a diary containing around 15 names of alleged benamidars.

The ACB has filed a disproportionate assets case under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Further probe is on.
