HYDERABAD: The Weather department has forecast continued heatwave conditions across parts of Telangana over the next three days, even as several districts are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and winds.
On Friday, nearly 19 districts recorded temperatures above 46°C, with Sirpur in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district registering the highest temperature at 46.5°C.
The IMD said conditions are becoming favourable for the southwest monsoon to advance further into additional parts of the southeast Arabian Sea, the Comorin region, southwest and southeast Bay of Bengal, the remaining parts of the Andaman Sea and some areas of the east-central Bay of Bengal over the next two to three days.
Meteorologists said a trough extending from northwest Uttar Pradesh to an upper air cyclonic circulation over interior Odisha, passing through east Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, persists at an altitude of 1.5 km above mean sea level. Another trough extending from the central Bay of Bengal and southwest Bay of Bengal up to TN weakened on Thursday.
The weather department stated that light to moderate rainfall is likely at isolated places in several districts on Friday and Saturday, while dry weather conditions are expected on Sunday. Maximum temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged over the next two days.
