With digitalisation of old hits becoming a trend, yet another movie, Aalavandhan, is set to get re-released. The Kamal Haasan-starrer will be re-released by Kalaipuli Thanu under his banner V Creations.

The film whose budget would equate to 400 crore today, when adjusted to inflation, will be released across 500 screens. Kalaipuli Thanu took to his Twitter account on June 3 to state, “Aalavandhan is coming back to you again, bigger and better! Digitalisation starts today.”

The film directed by Suresh Krissna has Kamal playing the roles of twins, Vijaykumar and Nandhu. While VIjaykumar is a commando , Nandhu is a psychopath who suffers from schizophrenia. Co-starring Raveena Tandon and Manisha Koirala, the film was simultaneously released in Telugu and was released in Hindi as Abhay.

Aalavandhan was considered to be a trendsetter, and pioneered several technological advancements in cinema. Quentin Tarantino acknowledged that the animated violence in the film inspired the Manga-style action in his Kill Bill films.
