NEW DELHI: The Rashtriya Seva Sangh (RSS) is aiming big. With its base increasing over the last few years, RSS has been organising a series of events one bigger than the other in the run up to its annual conference in March 2016 at Nagaur in Rajasthan. The idea is to bring co-ordination between various sections of society where RSS- inspired fronts are working, said a source.
The biggest show of strength will be the Shiv Shakti Sangam, which will begin in Pune on January 3. Over 1.5 lakh cadre is expected to participate and imbibe the “disciplined culture” practised by the Sangh at this Shivir. A five-day congregation of swavyamsevaks from 45 countries, Vishwa Sangh Shivir, concluded on January 2 in Indore.
“With the Sangh’s base expanding in foreign countries, 750 delegates participated at the shivir where they discussed the cultural aspects of India’s philosophy and how they could act as the country’s ambassadors,” an RSS source said. He said the conference was inaugurated by Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan along with RSS leader Bhaiyyaji Joshi. BJP chief Amit Shah also participated in the event. Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat has been addressing all these functions.
RSS even has a forum for lawyers—Adhivakta Parishad—which held its conference at the Art of Living headquarters in Bengaluru last week. Spiritual Guru Sri Sri Ravishankar, Supreme Court Judge Deepak Mishra, Union Law Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, Judge of Karnataka High Court Ashok B Hinchagiri participated in its inaugural function.
Another four-day event of nearly 2,000 Shrung Ghosh Vadak Swayamsevaks (RSS cadres who can play brass band instruments) will begin next week in Bengaluru. Former ISRO chairman Dr K Radhakrishnan Bhagwat is expected to speak at the event. Sources said these events were aimed at channelling the energies of new members.
