Rashmi Belur

Children studying in CBSE and ICSE schools in Karnataka carry up to 15 kg, found a survey by the State Education Research and Training Department (DSERT) in Bengaluru. Its findings show a widespread lack of concern for children’s spinal health. “We checked bags of students from classes 1 to 10. We also checked bags of students studying in schools with classes 11 and 12. The weight is unbelievable,” said V P Niranjanaradhya, a committee member of DSERT.
