Central Food Technology Research Institute (CFTRI) that made carbonated fruits and Gluten-free products will now target millions of overweight people with its anti-obesity Diacylglycerol oil. Though Japan came out with a similar oil, it was withdrawn in 2009.

CFTRI has completed toxicological studies and has proved that the oil is safe and without carcinogens. It has been made using rice bran and sunflower oil and is enriched with diglycerides. The product contains antioxidants, which reduces cholesterol, improves skin texture, provides other health benefits and helps maintain a healthy body weight. The oil provides energy and does not get stored as fat in the body. It will be priced at affordable rates.
