Rains to lash Chittoor, Kadapa, Nellore districts

VIJAYAWADA: Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad has issued a warning that heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Nellore, Chittoor and Kadapa districts in the next 24 hours. State Disaster Management Authority has also issued high wind alert, where strong surface winds from north easterly direction with a speed ranging about 40-60 kmph, is likely to occur along and off South Coastal Andhra Pradesh. The officials also cautioned fishermen  not to venture into the sea for the next 24 hours. 

According to the IMD, the well-marked low pressure area over southwest Bay of Bengal adjoining Tamil Nadu is now associated with upper air cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level.

On Wednesday, moderate to heavy rain occurred at isolated places in Nellore and Chittoor districts, while light to moderate rain occurred at isolated places in Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Kadapa and Anantapur districts. Since Tuesday night, isolated rain occurred in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema, ranging between 3 and 5 cm.
