BAGHDAD: The Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at US President George W. Bush appeared at an Iraqi court Wednesday, the state-run television reported.

Muntadhar al-Zaidi, reporter of Cairo-based Baghdadia Iraqi television, appeared before a judge in a court in the morning, in the presence of his attorney and prosecutor, the Iraqia television said.

Late Tuesday, Udai, brother of Zaidi, told reporters that his detained brother had called him on the telephone and told him that he "will appear at an Iraqi court in the Green Zone in c".

Zaidi, 29, was arrested Sunday after he threw shoes at Bush during a press conference in Baghdad at the end of Bush's farewell visit. The shoes failed to connect the target as Bush ducked. The journalist was taken into custody by security forces for interrogation.
