WASHINGTON: The White House played down suggestions on Thursday that President Donald Trump had failed to close a deal to reform US healthcare, claiming the delay of a crucial vote did not spell substantive problems.

A White House official said "the vote will be in the morning to avoid voting at 3 am."

"We feel this should be done in the light of day, not in the wee hours of the night and we are confident the bill will pass in the morning," the official said.
