HYDERABAD: Joint Labour Commissioner B Ajay initiated the process of registration of construction workers under the Building and Other Construction Workers Act in Singareni Collieries Colony in Saidabad on Friday.

Addressing the workers, he said that the ID cards would help the workers avail various benefits from the government, including compensation for accidental death, disability, natural death and even for childbirth.

Assistant Labour Commissioner Gangadhar and others participated in the first ID card distribution process.

The Labour department plans to register at least 40,000 workers and so far 12,000 workers have already registered their names in the twin cities, Ajay elaborated.
