The Central Teacher Eligibility Test, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will now be held on January 31 next year, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' said. The exam was earlier scheduled to be held on July 5.

At least 1.93 crore or 27.3 per cent of the people in Karnataka are either infected by coronavirus or had the infection in the past, as of 16 September, revealed a survey by the government to estimate the prevalence of COVID-19 in the state.
The Delhi government has started conducting targeted COVID-19 tests in markets and other crowded areas to strengthen its surveillance mechanism, the city's Heath Minister Satyendar Jain said on Wednesday amid a surge in daily coronavirus cases in the national capital in the last few days.
With 2,204 fresh cases, the total count of coronavirus infections on Wednesday went up to 4,89,502 in Uttar Pradesh and the number of fatalities rose to 7,104 with 16 more deaths, official data showed. The number of active cases presently stands at 22,676 of which 9,673 are in home isolation, a government spokesman said.

West Bengal Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay announced on Tuesday that the state government will not allow bursting of firecrackers during Kali puja and Diwali.

At least 117 more people, including two security personnel and eight health care workers, tested positive for COVID-19, pushing the caseload in the state to 14,998, a senior official said on Tuesday. Barring 11, all new patients are asymptomatic and have been shifted to COVID care centres, he said.
The Delhi government, represented by its additional standing counsel Satyakam, also told the high court that its officials have also not been allowed to share details of COVID-19 positive persons with their neighbours, resident welfare associations or Whatsapp groups.
