Best performing MPs honoured with awards

CHENNAI: Best performing MPs of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were honoured with Sansad Ratna award 2016,  during a national seminar on politics, democracy and governance, held here on June 11. The awards, instituted by Prime Point Foundation and eMagazine ‘PreSense’, were given in six categories - debates, private member bills, questions, women, first time MP. The award winners were selected based on the data provided by Lok Sabha Secretariat and PRS India.

Former Governor of RBI, Dr C Rangarajan presented the award to Shivaji Adhalrao Patil (Shiv Sena), second time MP from Shirur constituency in Maharashtra, PP Chaudhary (BJP), first time MP from Pali constituency in Rajasthan, Shrirang Appa Barne (Shiv Sena), MP of Maval constituency in Maharashtra, Dr Heena Vijayakumar Gavit (BJP), first time MP from Nandurbar constituency in Maharashtra, Rajeev Sharrao Satav (Congress), first time MP from Hingoli constituency in Maharashtra and P Rajeev, a retired Rajya Sabha MP (CPM) from Kerala.

The recipients shared their experiences in Parliament and hailed the efforts to honoured top performing members. Arjun Meghwal, chief whip of the BJP, said that the practice of giving awards has been in practice for the last six years.
