In a bid to end stray cattle menace, the corporation has started to regularly seize head of cattle roaming across the city.
Congress MLA and Maldhari community leader Raghu Desai termed the BJP decision as flawed, saying Gujarat’s corporation areas have laws already in place for cattle control.
The authorities reported 173 cases of lumpy skin disease in the capital on September 11. The first case was detected at the end of August.
The tiger on the prowl has been giving sleepless nights to the residents and forest officials in the district for the past four months by continuous attacks on the cattle.
Intensifying its drive against stray cattle menace, the city corporation has decided to make violators cough up a fine of up to Rs 5,000 per head of cattle to get it back.

Animal Husbandry also said that Rs 1 crore should be made available from the District Planning Committee for the procurement of vaccines and medicines useful in curbing the ailment.
"In Rajasthan, the number of death is 600-700 per day. But in other states, it is less than 100 in a single day," Animal Husbandry Secretary said.
The first case of Lumpy Skin Disease was reported on August 4 in Chinawal village of Raver taluka of Jalgaon district.
"In the recent past, there has been a loss of livestock in many states of India due to the disease named Lumpy. The central government, along with various state governments, is trying to control it,"
The TMC leader is at present in judicial custody following his arrest on August 11 by CBI in connection with the cattle smuggling case.
According to animal husbandry officials, at least 4.59 lakh cattle, including 40,000 buffalos, are there in the district.
The accused, Sudipta Roy, was nabbed from BNR More in Asansol city on Monday night for allegedly threatening special CBI judge Rajesh Chakraborty with a drug case.
A four-member team of CBI reached Asansol from Kolkata on Monday night. "Our officers will be visiting the jail where Mondal is lodged. We hope to get new information from him," the officer told.
