Cardekho

It would not be exaggeration to say that Hyundai Creta has been taking a toll on every car enthusiast’s instincts. The most awaited SUV of the year is being followed by hundreds and thousands of people in the country and why not? It deserves to be pursued as it shows brilliance from every angle. The car has now been officially revealed by the company, so the situation has now become more alarming as the launch date is closing. The revealed images show the complete body design and construction.

The compact SUV has been carved on Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy that we have seen in so many cars till date. Most of the exterior styling has been taken from Santa Fe while it reflects substantial signs of Elite i20 as well. The front profile of Creta sports a protruding chrome grille along with belligerent projector headlamp cluster that also incorporates LED daytime running lights. To add to the bulkiness, the carmaker has provided faux skidplate at the lower half of the bumper. The side profile remains conventional with a slanting roofline and high shoulder line that shows the dynamism of the car while the new set of 17-inch 5-spoke diamond cut alloy wheels take that vitality, a notch high. The rear is reminiscent of Elite i20 hatchback, the car which has given a new meaning to the richness. We will see a set of wraparound taillights cleverly merging into the shoulder line. The ground clearance is pretty good too that skillfully matches up the naughty Indian road conditions. The new Hyundai Creta features company’s ‘Hive Structure’ technology that not only makes it bearable to crashes but also translates into lower NVH level.

Inside the car, one will find the same level of quality, fit and finish for which most of the Hyundai vehicles are known for. That’s why people are always ready for spending extra money for Hyundai vehicles against the formidable competitors. The cabin is decorated in black and beige color scheme with some of the most trending features like 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, rear AC vents while there will be comfy aspects like push engine start/stop button, multi-functional steering wheel with mounted audio controls and electrically adjustable ORVMs.

The duty of booting the car will be on the shoulders of one petrol and two diesel engine options. These motors are doing pretty well in Verna sedan so far. The 1.6 liter VTVT petrol engine musters 123PS while the 1.4 liter and 1.6 liter U2 CRDi motors would be generating 90PS and 128PS respectively. The icing on the cake will be the availability of the automatic diesel variant, something that would be first in the segment.

Safety is filled to the gills as Creta comes armed with some of the features like dual airbags, side and curtain airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, VSM, HAC, reverse parking camera and many more.

Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director and CEO, HMIL, Mr. BS Seo said Creta, the most anticipated and aspirational SUV this year from the company would be a revolutionary product and will create a new chapter in company’s success story. The car has the caliber to match the growing demands of the customers in the country for compact SUVs and would surely create new benchmarks when launched in India. He also added that the company has a strong vision for the Indian market and it will try to boost the commitment made to the people here. When launched, Creta will lock horns with Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport, Nissan Terrano and upcoming S-Cross from Maruti Suzuki. So Hyundai seems to have caught the time by its forelock, let’s see what fruits this car reaps for its maker.
