NEW DELHI: German luxury carmaker BMW on Friday launched the X1 Long Wheelbase (LWB) SUV at introductory price of Rs 49.90 lakh. One of the top selling models for the brand, the new BMW X1 LWB is locally produced at BMW Group Plant Chennai in a petrol variant and can be booked at BMW dealerships from Friday (August 21) onwards.
The BMW X1 LWB undercuts the standard X1 petrol, which costs Rs 50.90 lakh, by Rs 1 lakh.

Customers today want a vehicle that satisfies both practical needs and emotional aspirations, and the new X1 LWB does exactly that. BMW India also opened bookings for the first-ever BMW i5 Long Wheelbase today. The sedan will be the second electric BMW model to roll out of BMW Group Plant Chennai.
The first-ever BMW i5 Long Wheelbase stands as the largest and longest sedan in its segment in terms of size (5,175 mm length, 2,156 mm width, 1,520 mm height). Powering this electric sedan is an electric motor delivering 268 hp of power, propelling from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds. It is equipped with an 81.6 kWh high-voltage battery pack, which delivers a range of up to 669 km (MIDC) on a single charge.
The BMW X1 Long Wheelbase is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine which produces an output of 115 kW / 156 hp and a maximum torque of 230 Nm at 1,500 – 4,600 rpm. It has a fuel efficiency of 15.5 km/l.
The X1 LWB is the only long-wheelbase model in its segment, where it competes with the Mercedes-Benz GLA and Audi Q3.
