BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is coming up with  a software that would let people book its community halls and playgrounds in a click.

At present, the civic body rents out many of its spaces — including Sir Puttanna Chetty Town Hall and Freedom Park — for private events. There are around 35 community halls in Rajajinagar, Jayanagar and other areas in old Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike limits that are rented out to schools, colleges and government agencies.

Organising events at these venues can be tedious, as one has to run from pillar to post to find out if a slot is free on a particular day. To book the hall, one has to go to the bank to get a demand draft.

“The IT Department has developed a software that helps people book all community halls and spaces for private events. One can check availability and even pay online,” said a senior BBMP official.
