Hungarian trading house in city to boost economic ties

As an extension to the MoU signed between Hungary and Karnataka in 2015 for economic cooperation, a Hungarian National Trading House (HNTH) was inaugurated on Thursday.

BENGALURU: As an extension to the MoU signed between Hungary and Karnataka in 2015 for economic cooperation, a Hungarian National Trading House (HNTH) was inaugurated on Thursday.

Dr Norbert Revai-Bere, Consul General of Hungary in Mumbai, who was here for the inauguration, said, “Historically, Hungary and India have enjoyed friendly relations since diplomatic relations were established in 1948. The recent years have seen the rapid upgradation of India-Hungary cooperation in diverse sectors.

Today, bilateral cooperation extends not merely to commercial and investment partnerships but also to the fields of agriculture, food, defence, health including ayurveda, oil exploration, science and technology, and educational and cultural exchanges. This cooperation is set to strengthen even further in the future.”
Hungary’s trade with India has been increasing. In 2014, exports from Hungary to India was $220 million, an increase of 300 per cent in the preceding 10 years.

He further added, “Opening of the Hungarian National Trading House office at Bengaluru is significant for Indian companies looking for European products, technology and collaboration opportunities. ”
Zoltan Szekeres, Director, Asia Project Directorate, HNTH, said, “The key objectives of the HNTH Bengaluru office is to identify diverse trade and business opportunities, and connect Indian businesses interested in partnering with Hungarian suppliers through importing and distributing Hungarian products, technology or knowledge transfer and joint ventures.”
