Aunt of murdered woman constable killed in train accident in Bhubaneswar

While GRP registered an unnatural death case and launched an investigation, Prafulla was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

BHUBANESWAR: A day after police arrested the husband of woman constable Subhamitra Sahoo on charges of murdering her, the latter’s aunt was on Thursday evening crushed to death after coming under a moving train near Patia railway station here.

The victim, identified as Anapurna Patnaik (52) and her husband Prafulla were returning from Puri in a train after attending Subhamitra’s last rites when the incident occurred. Her husband Prafulla, meanwhile, lost both his legs in the accident.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) said the couple belongs to Bolagarh in Khurda. The duo was possibly crossing the railway tracks when they got knocked down by another train passing on the route.

While GRP registered an unnatural death case and launched an investigation, Prafulla was rushed to a hospital for treatment. The incident comes a day after police exhumed the body of 25-year-old Subhamitra from Ghatagaon area in Keonjhar and arrested her husband Deepak Rout (39) in this connection. Her last rites were performed in Puri earlier in the day.
