There was a display of talent and jubilitation to mark the second edition of Meera Music awards at Nehru stadium.

CHENNAI: The second edition of Meera Tamil Music Awards were held in the city amidst much fanfare. Sarath Kumar, Sathyaraj, Arun Vijay and Subramaniyapuram director Sasi Kumar enjoyed the thunderous applause of fans as they walked into the Nehru stadium. Jointly organised by Isai Aruvi and Social Media, the event kicked off with a rythmic drums extravaganza.Aishwarya Dhanush’s dance performance along with John Britto’s Dance Company featured remix versions of popular songs. ‘Ra Ra’ from Chandramukhi and ‘Thottu Thottu Pogum Thendral’ from Kadhal Kondaen had the audience in raptures. Winners of Meera Voice Hunt also performed to a packed stadium. Last year, Shruti Haasan performed at the first edition of Tamil Music Awards and this year she received Rising Star Singer (Female) for Adiye Kolluthey from the film Vaaranam Aayiram and Bellie Raj was announced the winner of Rising Star Singer (Male) for Kangal Irundal from Subramaniyapuram.

On behalf of her father Kamal Haasan, Shruti received Best Hero in a song sequence award for the film Dasavatharam. While Simbu received Rising Star Lyricist for ‘Where’s the Party’ song from Silambattam, Yuvan Shankar Raja received three awards for Silambattam- Best Remix Song ‘Vechikava’, Crazy Song of the Year- Where’s the Party and Sensational Youth Album.

All in all, the stars and audiences enjoyed the show which also had awards for Voice of the Year award won by Karthik, Best Singer Female went to Mahathi for Mudal Mazhai and Best Singer Male to Hariharan for Nenjukul Peithidum.
