CHENNAI: Maduravoyal police inspector V Tamilvanan told the Madras High Court on Tuesday that actress Vanitha was absconding. Oh, really? Was she not spotted on Tuesday afternoon inside the city police commissioner’s (CoP) office and at the office of the suburban CoP on Monday noon?

In fact, for the past few days, she has been visiting various senior police officers with newspersons and photographers following her. Newspapers too have been regularly carrying her pictures ever since the controversy relating to her fight with her parents broke out more than 10 days ago.

So, where was Tamilvanan’s team searching for her? If his claims that the police were taking sincere and effective steps continuously to arrest her to complete the investigations are taken of face value, it would appear that he does not read newspapers, does not keep the suburban CoP in the loop and has generally lost all his sleuthing skills.

Actually, the way the police are dealing with the case is as intriguing as the case itself. Perhaps the Maduravoyal police inspector needs a break.
