CHENNAI: On the occasion of the 64th Independence Day, the Government of India announced award of medals for 18 officers of the Tamil Nadu Police. Police officers are selected at the all India level for this distinction and these medals are awarded twice a year on Republic Day and Independence Day respectively.
These medals, considered to be the highest honour for police officers, are given taking into account overall performance, achievement and reputation.
Two officers have been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service this year.
