CHENNAI: AID India, an education NGO, on Wednesday, with support from National Stock Exchange (NSE) Foundation, launched an educational quality improvement programme in government schools in Mandapam block of Ramanathapuram district.
Through this Education Quality Improvement Programme, the organisation will provide 40 primary schools and 10 high schools with learning tools and technology solutions that are likely to improve the learning outcome of children in a more meaningful way, said Balaji Sampath, organisation’s secretary.
For instance, students will not only be given creative kits that will help them learn language or arithmetic, they will also be taught the local wisdom. “Apart from imparting school education, we would also teach them about the local ecology, irrigation system and other things that will empower them to live a better life,” he said.
Speaking at the launch of the event, R Ramanujam, chairman of the Tamil Nadu State Textbook and Syllabus Framing Committee, said locals are often in knowledge of large amount of local wisdom that is not appreciated or acknowledged by the school education system.
