Delhi police arrest private airline pilot for recording objectionable video of woman

The incident reportedly took place at Shani Bazar when the accused allegedly attempted to record the complainant without her consent using a hidden camera.

NEW DELHI: A 31-year-old pilot was arrested for allegedly trying to record objectionable video of a woman in southwest Delhi’s Kishangarh area, police said on Friday.

The accused has been identified as Mohit Priyadarshi, a resident of Civil Lines in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. He is employed as a pilot with a private airline. He is unmarried and has confessed that he was making such videos to satisfy his personal gratification.

A woman lodged a complaint in which she alleged that on August 30, around 10.20 pm, when she was present at Shani Bazar, Kishangarh village, she noticed that an unknown male person was attempting to record objectionable videos of her by using a lighter-shaped device fitted with a hidden camera, a senior police officer said.

A case under sections 77 (voyeurism) and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Kishangarh police station and investigation was taken up.

During investigation, the CCTV footage of the surrounding area was examined, and the suspected person’s picture was circulated. Local beat staff and secret informers were activated for further investigation into the case. Later, the accused was successfully apprehended. He confessed to his involvement, Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Amit Goel said.

A lighter-shaped hidden spy camera has been recovered from the accused. Further investigation is in progress, the police added.
