HYDERABAD: The works related to the P V Narasimha Rao (PVNR) Elevated Expressway Project to provide faster and safer road connectivity to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad are going on at a brisk pace and are expected to be completed by July 2009.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has taken up the prestigious project and is using state-of-the-art pre-cast segments and overhead launchers for the works.
HMDA officials said works related to the nearly 11.633 kmlong elevated corridor with three sets of up-and-down ramps at Tolichowki, Hyderguda and Aramgarh were going at a brisk pace. The width of the elevated corridor, which is a four-lane divided carriageway, is 17.2 mts. M/s Simplex - Somdatt is the contractor for the project. The works commenced from Sept 1, 2006.
Till date, the progress achieved has been substantial.
In fact, the physical turnover of the work has been the highest, when compared to the preceding months. In terms of numbers, about 210 segments have been cast and 18 spans launched, against the average of 125 segments and eight spans per month.
The output achieved has been the highest so far. The HMDA officials said about 2,065 of the total 3,492 segments had been casted so far.
