Ugadi awards announced

The state government announced Uagadi Puraskaram for 40 eminent personalities and Kala Ratna award for 15 for their contribution in their respective fields.

The Kala Ratna award goes to Kovela Supprasannacharya and S Gangappa (literature); Malladi Suribabu, Sobha Raju and Tarigoppula Narayana (music); Vedantam Radhesyam and Oleti Rangamani (dance); Surapaneni Janardhan (drawing); Velu Sthapati (sculpture); Narala Rama Reddy (Avadhanam); Bali (cartoons); Kunta Odelu and BV Ratnam (Janapadam); and Patibandla Ananda Rao and Pavala Syamala (theatre art).

Each awardee will get Rs 30,000 and a citation.

The Uagadi Puraskaram will go to Umar Aleesha, Manapragada Seshasai, Tirunagari, Sarath Jyotsna Rani, GV Poornachand and Geddada Kasturi (literature); PV Seshaiah Sastry, Kota Atchibabu and Satyavada Sisters (music); Ardhanreeswara Venkat and Suvarchhala (dance); Ambaji (drawing); Kandimalla Sambasiva Rao, Palleti Lakshmi Kulaskhar, Surabhi Prabhavati, Jitmohan Mitra, Akella Venkata Suryanarayana and Rajita Murthy (theatre art); BV Pattabhiram (personality development); Mimicry Srinivas and Sylvester (mimicry); Jayaraj, PV Chalapati Rao, Lakshminarayana and Hema Kumari (Janapadam); Yedida Nageswara Rao, Maddali Venkateswara Rao and Mada in (cinema); Piratla Venkateswarlu (journalism); SV Rama Rao (cine journalism); Velaga Venkatappaiah (library movement); TS Reddy (photography); Umesh Chandra, Jagadeesh, Suryanarayana Raju and Gurava Reddy (medicine); Ila Anantachary (handicrafts); Krithi Keerthi (youth); and Ammulapudi Venkateswara Srinu Siddhanti, Narasimha Appadu, T Sanjeeva Rao (others).

The awardees will get Rs 5,116 in cash each and a citation from the government.
