Niloufer ICU Block to be Opened in September

New out patient building can accommodate 1,000 out patients daily

HYDERABAD:The new five-storeyed emergency and intensive care block of Niloufer Hospital is all set to open in September. The 450-bedded facility will have an oxygen plant also and it will handle hundreds of operations per day. The works to install the oxygen plant will be completed within three weeks.

The Niloufer Hospital has a capacity of 500 beds, including 250 beds in emergency block. Works for the new 450-bedded emergency block was initiated to accommodate the increasing number of patients who throng the hospital for medical care.

 The The construction of the Rs 20 crore new block was delayed due to various reasons like shortage of funds, equipment and staff, among others. Already, works of the new emergency block has entered the final stages with just some finishing works remaining.

“Telangana State Medical Infrastructure Development Corporation (TSMIDC) will handover the building to us during the first week of September. We have also started works to install an oxygen plant as the new block will has to handle hundreds of surgeries and intensive care cases.

The oxygen plant will be completed in three weeks and most probably it will be launched in September,’’ Niloufer Hospital Superintendent C Suresh Kumar told Express.

The new Out Patient building, which can accommodate 1,000 out patients daily, was opened a month ago and after the inauguration of the new emergency block, Niloufer will become a 950-bed hospital and emerge as the top hospital for mother and child care in South India, opined doctors at the Niloufer Hospital.
