Add hope subtracts hunger

The project that also fights malnutrition launched in city.

HYDERABAD: 20 million meals to underprivileged children by 2020. That is what the add Hope project launched in the city aims to reach. A project by Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) in collaboration with The United Nations World Food Programme India, Akshaya Patra Foundation and India Food Banking Network, it seeks to address the big problem India faces - hunger of one-fourth of the population. The project is to fight hunger and malnutrition.

KFC Managing Director Rahul Shinde said add Hope is a long term commitment to fight hunger in India. Starting May 16, customers can feed a hungry child by adding Rs 5 to their bill, each time they visit a KFC store. Its employees in the 300+ restaurants around the country will also support local communities through volunteerism.

Kohinoor Foods Limited donated rice and the employees of this famous food chain collected grains of pulses. The “add Hope” truck, was also flagged off during this launch. It is this truck that will travel all across the country, and distribute food grains at the Food Banking Networks.
