BNS Bangabandhu calls at Kochi port

Bangladesh naval ship BNS Bangabandhu has called at the Kochi port. The modern frigate, a flagship of the Bangladesh Navy, is en route to Doha to participate in ‘Exercise Ferocious Falcon’.

A host of professional and social interactions were scheduled between the two naval forces here. Tariq Ahmad Karim, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India,  welcomed the frigate.

Welcoming the Indian naval officers on board the ship, Captain Mir Ershad Ali, commanding officer of BNS Bangabandhu, recalled the days that he had undergone training here.

High Commissioner Tariq Ahmad Karim pointed out the need for more engagements and closer relations between Bangladesh and India. Vice-Admiral Satish Soni, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, expressed the readiness of the Indian Navy to train more officers of the Bangladesh Navy.

High Commissioner Tariq Ahmad Karim also paid a visit to the headquarters of the Southern Naval Command and called on Vice-Admiral Satish Soni on Sunday. The ship will depart  on Monday.
