KOCHI: The walls at the Chitralaya School of Arts in Tripunithura are adorned by paintings. The art is a bit amateurish but there is a refreshment to the works. The paintings have been done by students of the School from various age groups.

Almost all the paintings are powerful depictions and have dwelt into relevant social issues. A four day camp has been held as part of the painting exhibition. Initially, students are taught to observe nature.

Clay modelling workshops and painting classes are also held.   Speaking on the style of learning, students at the School said they were given opportunities to paint without any limitations.

School with a difference

The Chitralaya school of Arts is headed by Chakrapani K C. Nearly 70 students of different age groups are present at the school.

Students are taught to survey the surroundings to allow the artist in them to nurture.

“Music should be taught, dance should be taught. However, art is something you learn from observation,” said Chakrapani. From 2009, workshops are being conducted at the school. Four camps are conducted every year at the school.
